From the directing concept:
"The Boy Who Grew Too Fast tells the story of the value of individual originality. It is a universal theme that we all face, especially young people who are still on the path of their personal and spiritual development. It is at them that our performance is aimed. The production includes elements of shadow theatre. The light source, the shadow object and the shadow open up new dimensions in Menotti's opera. The shadow scenes take us beyond time and space. They invite us into a world of dreams and open up space for our imagination. I want the audience to experience our performance intuitively, in all its integrity. At the same time, I hope that the performance will encourage the audience to think and accept one's own originality, with which one expresses oneself in life. In this way, we will ensure the integrity of ourselves and our lives."
From the review: "Thanks to the Glasbena matica Ljubljana Music Society and the Slovenian Chamber Music Theatre, Menotti's youth one-act opera The Boy Who Grew Too Fast was performed for the first time for the Slovenian audience at Cankarjev dom Ljubljana, culture and congress centre. The collaboration between professional and young amateur performers was in harmony, and the director Eva Hribernik ensured the consistency and comprehensibility of the content by making the work simple, clear and understandable."
