From the directing concept:
“Symbols are the bearers of deeper content in life and in the theatre. In our performance, the passages that are part of the stage scenography are of symbolic significance. This is the door through which Gerda steps when she sets out on her journey. The door signifies home, security, belonging, and at the same time invites us to pass through it; it therefore represents a symbolic transition between the known and the unknown. To step through the door is to change the level, the environment, the centre of life. It is associated with wisdom. Gerda passes through different worlds. The new (super)realities she enters are full of wonder and magic. In the performance, the audience can recognise another symbolic element on stage: a key in the image of a rose. The key has a duai function; it can open or close, pave the way to mystery and discovery, even to the heart. Will the opera's heroes succeed in unlocking the icy heart of the Snow Queen?”
